                                      What The Genetics Mean;

• Red/ Black Factor ee- Sorrels are red pigmented. 

• Agouti AA - Agouti controls the black pigment. Ruby cannot have a black foal. 

• Dominant White N/W20- Ruby has a 50% chance of passing on the Dominant White Gene. In combination with other white pattern alleles (Splash) W20 has been shown to increase the amount of white patterning, producing an all white or nearly all white phenotype. Genotype display white face and leg markings and some may have a variable amount of white spotting. It is thought that horses with these genotypes that have more extreme white spotting patterns likely have mutations in other pigmentation genes.

• Lethal White Overo (LWO) Negative: Ruby is Negative for LWO and cannot pass it on.

• 5 Panel: ( GBED, HERDA, HYPP, MH, PSSM) : Ruby is Negative and will not pass on any of these.

• IMM Negative: Ruby is Negative , so therefore cannot pass on the gene
